The Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino says it has relaunched the Imperial Sky Villa, the former Las Vegas home of Elvis Presley, the city’s most famous former resident.
The opening coincides with what would have been Presley’s 90th birthday year. In a Westgate press release, the resort explained that the “reimagined” villa honored the “enduring legacy of Elvis Presley.”
It added that the resort is currently marking the Year of Elvis, a celebration marking the star’s 90th birthday.
Presley lived at Westgate, then the International Hotel, from 1969 until his death in December 1976.
For much of Presley’s stay in the city, it was named the Las Vegas Hilton. Its original designer was Martin Stern Jr., the godfather of Las Vegas integrated casino resort complex architecture.
Elvis Presley Themed Attractions
The purpose-built Imperial Sky Villa replaces the Tuscany Sky Villa development. The latter was built on top of the hotel when it first opened its doors in 1969.
It once housed, among others, a suite known as the Elvis Presley Suite, which the pop star made his home for a decade. The resort said that the villa now spans 1,226 sqm.
The resort said it had designed the revamped villa with “a deep reverence for Elvis Presley.”
Plaques on the villa’s walls commemorate highlights from Presley’s Vegas years. These chronicle events like the pop icon’s first performance at the International Hotel in 1969.
They also include the press conference he gave from the hotel to promote the ground-breaking satellite broadcast concert Aloha from Hawaii.
The new development includes several bedrooms and panoramic views of the city skyline, as well as living and dining areas, in addition to spa-inspired bathrooms.
Cami Christensen, Westgate’s President and General Manager, said: “This is a genuine connection to the magic that made Elvis Presley a global icon. Guests are truly standing where the footsteps of the King once reigned, immersed in his spirit and legacy.”
Christensen said Westgate was “proud to continue setting the standard for legendary experiences where luxury and history intersect.”
Westgate’s other themed suites include a Christmas Suite, a Day of the Dead Suite, and High Roller Suites. It also claims to run the largest race and sports book in the world.
The resort’s move to honor one of the world’s most renowned artists is another example of the inherent cross-selling opportunities between casino, sports betting, and popular culture.
Last month, a gambler at a Las Vegas off-Strip casino secured a payout of over $486,000 after landing a progressive jackpot on Pai Gow Poker.
